Available Bulldog puppies

A guardian puppy/dog is placed with a local family at a pet cost. The benefit to the guardian family is they receive a top-quality puppy, that must meet the strictest requirements to be in our breeding program, for the cost of a pet. The puppy also has a large panel of genetic tests done at Gorge-Us Bully’s expense.  The benefit to Gorge-Us Bully’s is we will never be overcrowded or have to use any sort of kennels. We prefer to only have a few adult dogs that we can give plenty of time and attention. The guardian puppy benefits because they receive all the attention, they could ever want from their guardian Home.

Female: 

• Once the guardian dog is of breeding age and in her second/third heat cycle, she will come to stay with us to be bred (+/- a week). She is then returned to her guardian family where she will stay for the duration of her pregnancy until the week before her due date (56 days).  
• One week before her due date, she will come back to our home to deliver, raise, and wean her puppies for 4-5 weeks.  
• We pay for all pregnancy-related veterinary expenses and testing.
• The number of litters the guardian dog will have is dependent on the female (#1) and the contractual agreement between Gorge-Us Bullys and her guardian family (#2). 
• When she completes her breeding obligations, we sign her ownership over to you at our expense and she comes home to enjoy the wonderful life you have provided for her. 

Male: 

• A male guardian dog agreement is much simpler than a female. 
• We prefer artificial insemination, this is a quick trip and he will be returned the same day or stay overnight for a second collection. 
• Males are typically retired before 8 years old.  

Female: 

• When the Guardian dog goes into estrus (heat), the Guardian Family is required to contact us immediately. 
• An intact female has a heat cycle that lasts between 10 and 21 days every 6-8 months. 
• We keep the female for 5-7 days while she is being timed for breeding & bred. 
• Once she has been bred, she will return to and remain with her Guardian Family during her pregnancy (60-64 days) 
• One week before her due date, she will come back to stay with us so that we can help her to deliver her puppies. They will all remain with us while she raises and weans her puppies.   

Guardian puppies/ dogs may be any age, but most likely will be around 8 weeks old. During the first year, we will have most of her/his genetic health testing completed. Once we receive the test results, we decide whether the guardian dog will enter our breeding program officially.  If a dog does not pass testing or it’s decided that he/she will not be added to our program the guardian family will be offered full ownership with limited akc rights of the dog and he/she will need to be spayed/neutered at your expense.  

If you’re receiving a Guardian Home Puppy or Young Adult, we require a visit to the guardians’ home/our home every few weeks during the first year to assess the puppy, as well as, build a relationship with him/her and her family for the future.   

Guardian Homes Must Have The Following: 

• Own their own home (Desired, but not required) 
• Live within 2 hours of Hood River, Oregon 
• Prior dog ownership experience / Bulldog experience a major plus 
• Strong Vet reference (preferred) 
• Have a fully fenced yard (Desired, but not required) 
• Take puppy through at least one obedience class 
• Provide proper veterinary care, grooming, vaccinations, and all preventative care 
• Will NOT feed grain-free dog food, must be of quality
• Notify breeder when the female begins her heat cycle 
• Not allow the female to be around intact males during the heat cycle 
• Not allow a guardian male to breed other females without Gorge-Us Bullys permission 
• Ensure that the puppy is well socialized with people and other dogs 
• An interview at your home may also be required before you can be accepted as a guardian home.

Co-owning a female:  

Co-Owning is just like the guardian home but is more suited for people interested in learning the whelping and breeding ins and outs & that are pretty familiar with English Bulldogs. 

• A Co-own dog Can be purchased at a pet price. 
• The female will stay registered in Gorge-Us Bullys name.
• All expenses that are breeding related are split 50/50. The litter costs are also split 50/50 and anything routine is your responsibility. 
• Litter profits (if any) after expenses are split 60/40. (Gorge-Us Bullys 60%, Co-Owner 40%). 

We will work together to choose a sire for the litters to achieve the best possible results. This co-ownership can be for a set number of litters or for the breeding life of the dog. 

Co-Owning a male:  

Co-Owning is just like the guardian home but is for people interested in learning the ins and outs of breeding and who are familiar with English Bulldogs. 

• Co-Owns Can be purchased at a pet price. 
• All expenses that are breeding-related are split 50/50. anything routine is your responsibility. profits (if any) after expenses are split 60/40. (Gorge-Us Bullys 60%, Co-Owner 40%). 
• The male will stay registered in Gorge-Us Bullys name. 

We will work together to choose a dam for the litter(s) to achieve the best possible results. This co-ownership can be for a set number of collections or for the breeding life of the dog.
